“Urban × ICT 03” was held on June 10, 2013. The guest was Ass.Prof.Kato, whose research field is urban disaster prevention.

As a first part, he gave us a lecture about his research topic, frame work for urban disaster prevention that enables urban residents to enhance the anti-disaster consciousness by themselves. He also talked for us, how he utilized the ICT technology in these activities. GCL members listened to his lecture in good earnest. In addition to those topics, he showed the mobile application he developed. Using this tool gave the GCL members new findings about using ICT.

In the theme discussion as the latter part, the topic was “How can we utilize the ICT technology for the risk management of urban disasters and enhancing the anti-disaster consciousness of urban residents?” With the guest, GCL members gave their own opinions and do discussion. In latter part, GCL member and other participants debated about the theme “In what way, Big data (MGD) change the business or research? What skills and points to notice does people should have, when handling these data?”
